Computer Museum a continuing history of technology

The real story with modems is in the amazing increase in speed end users have seen. From the early days of dial-up with speeds of 110 bits per second to the speed of Cable modems at 1.1 megabits per second. Since 1973 until today, we have experienced connect speeds that are 1,000,000x faster. And yet the price of modems have remained relatively constant.

And the story doesn't end there the possibility of wireless modems down loading data from satellite transmission almost instantly and other new technologies that allow end users to access data faster than ever are the exciting things that are happening with computer technology today.
